BASIC / ADVANCED on-road

On road skills and techniques to ensure your Ural adventure is safe and fun.

Adventuring by Ural on road to the coast or around the world can be made easier and more fun for everyone, when you have good sidecar riding skills.

For the BASIC level experience you will cover the following topics:
About our Urals and why they are so different from a normal bike
Starting, stopping and use of brakes
Road position and finding your reference point
Steering, turning and turning around to left and right
Use of gears to suit terrain
Use of reverse gear
Use of 2 wheel drive
How to read the terrain on roads or tracks
General maintenance and daily checks

The ADVANCED level can be undertaken once you have completed an BASIC Experience Day or have a Ural Motorcycle of your own. Your basic skills will be refreshed before you head out to ride a broad range of different roads.

For a more advanced level experience you will progress on to the following topics
Road position and hazard anticipation
Consideration for weight distribution on the bike and overall load
Optimum use of gears and dynamics of the bike
General maintenance and daily checks
Involvement and help from a co-pilot
Moving weight to help with stability
How to anticipate what’s ahead with the aid of a navigation system
Safely handling a Ural on different types of roads and speeds

There is a break for lunch.
